Action Against Hunger - FoodLovers Charity
Action Against Hunger is an international humanitarian charity working in 43 countries worldwide. Their teams do their utmost day after day to ensure that people are given access to the most basic of human rights - the right to food.
Action Against Hunger has a long history of collaborating with the food, drink and hospitality industry. Many restaurants, top chefs and food critics have taken part in fund-raising activities. The charity has been at the forefront of the fight against hunger and malnutrition for almost 30 years. Thanks to help from supporters, their expert fieldworkers can continue to save the lives of malnourished children on the brink of death.
Action Against Hunger provide emergency food aid, water and relief items to families who have lost everything in places such as Darfur, Sudan. They also help vulnerable communities to sustain themselves by providing much-needed tools and seeds, water to irrigate gardens, cattle, fruit and vegetable gardens. These are all simple, basic things but they make a difference, not just for a few days but for years to come.
Last Christmas, Henrietta chose Action Against Hunger as the nominated charity of FoodLoversBritain.com. "Having worked in food all my life, I believe that it is everyone's fundamental and basic right to have access to it. Therefore I am delighted to support Action Against Hunger."
In Christmas 2008, FoodLovers Britain donated £1 from every FoodLovers Turkey Box sold towards Action Against Hunger. It's a win-win situation as there was no extra cost to our customers and, as Lynne Richards, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Action Against Hunger, says "We are extremely grateful to FoodLoversBritain.com for this generous contribution, which will enable our teams to save lives and provide assistance to millions of families that have been pushed into hunger as a consequence of the global food crisis."
