Having worked as a cook for many years, Fay Sweet changed direction and became a writer, but remains a great enthusiast for cooking, eating and sharing food and wine.
She is a huge admirer of the current wave of outstanding food growers, farmers, fishermen, bakers, brewers and restaurateurs of East Anglia.
Her favourite cooking cheat of the moment uses ready-made meringues. Make an enormous pile of summer fruits – fresh is ideal or warm up frozen fruits if out of season - crumble on big chunks of meringue and serve with delicious Alder Carr tayberry ice cream. Her latest venture is to turn a vast bed of nettles and thistles into a showpiece veg patch.
