Sara Jayne-Stanes, Director of The Academy of Culinary Arts

Sara Jayne Stanes OBE is Director of the Academy of Culinary Arts. She is also our Chocolate Expert, regularly lecturing on history of cocoa and chocolate and how the cocoa bean is transformed into the chocolate that we know today.

She's passionate about children's food education and of course real chocolate: She founded the Academy of Chocolate in 2005, driven by her desire to get consumers wedded to sweet chocolate to look beyond the label of their chocolate ‘confectionery’ and to be able to tell the difference

Sara lives in a Victorian Clapham house with her Wine Merchant husband, Richard, and their Battersea dog, Cocoa.
