British Street Food Awards
Richard Johnson came up with the idea for the British Street Food Awards when he was in New York - eating high-end hot dogs in a park with Marco Pierre White. He wondered why the best that he could hope for at home in London was a low-end saveloy (origin unknown) served from a rusty handcart by a man with three fingers.
For the last few years, Johnson has been on a mission to round up Britain's best mobilers (as they're known). Food in Britain shouldn't be all white tie; it should be white apron too. Street food is the food we all eat, so let's make it good. The first British Street Food Awards (judged by Richard with the help of Marco Pierre White, mark hix, Antony Worrall Thompson and Thomasina Miers) will reward the stars on our streets - and start a revolution in the way we eat.
