Gearing up for National Cherry Day
Loads of things are going on for National Cherry Day. Look out for the FoodLovers team at Borough Market, with cherry cheese tastings; buy cherries at Sheffield Country Market and Mortimer Country Food Fair in Hereford as well as Food Inc in Notting Hill and at The Ludlow Food Centre; look out for cherries on menus in restaurants across the country, including The Harrow Inn in Kent, Blueprint Cafe in London and The New Angel in Dartmouth.

Have I missed National Cherry Day already? Me & Rich have been chewing the stones over many a cherry, pondering where we can get our next fix of the Great British Cherry. FYI, the cherries we source down in Liverpool street station have no origin on the label. To be honest I am scared to ask the guy on the stall, as he scares me a little bit, but perhaps you can check this out for me? Good luck with Cherry pie Sunday. Any chance you could send us a slice?
Thanks Pete - Liverpool street

They are probably imported if there's no point of origin - and if he's scary he may well not be a friendly kentish farmer.
Any chance you could send us a slice of the cherry pie you're going to make....!?

Thanks for the tip Jo. However I'm useless at baking but Mrs. Pete is an absolute star in the baking department. However she is laid up in bed with an evil summer cold at the moment & all I can dream about is a fresh cherry pie. Any chance you can post us one? I'll pay the costs. Liverpool Street Pete

Alas i do not have one to hand. And i can't bake you one myself because i am away this weekend. I would, however, imagine you could pick one up somewhere like M&S... And Mrs Pete might really appreciate that.

Sadly this is not possible. The cherry pie in Marks and Spencers contains SPANISH CHERRIES!! Hence I imagine you would revoke this recommendation. How's about this...you bake a lovely pie and we all consider clubbing together for a tree? I will visit this tree, nourish it if it grows, punish it if it stagnates. I will also happily review the cherry pie on these pages, for no fee at all. Cherry aid is gaining an almost unstoppable momentum with these suggestions of ours, pls do not rebuff my pleas for a cherry pie again. Next week works for me. P&R. L.Street.
