Blackmoor Estate is a family-run farm located near Selborne in Hampshire and is best known for its long experience of growing both traditional and new varieties of English apples, pears and plums.

With its range of fruit enterprises, from rootstock and fruit tree production at Blackmoor Nurseries, to orchards, storage and grading, to the Blackmoor Farm Shop and farmers markets, Blackmoor is involved in every link of the production chain.
The annual Apple Tasting Day, which has been running for nearly 40 years, attracts several thousand apple enthusiasts, and will next be held on Sunday 12th October 2008.

Alongside providing top quality fruit trees and soft fruit plants to commercial growers and garden centres Blackmoor Nurseries now supply increasing numbers of plants directly to people who want the pleasure and benefits of growing fruit from a specialist nursery in their own gardens. With over 75 varieties of apple trees, pears, cherries, plums, raspberries, strawberries, blackcurrants, loganberries, cobnuts, figs and plenty more available for home delivery at competitive prices, Blackmoor have one of the widest selections of varieties available anywhere in the country.

Blackmoor Estate opened its farm shop in the 1960s. Not surprisingly the farm shop specialises in fresh fruit grown in the Estate's orchards and is sought out by those looking for produce in season from the farm, including: pears, strawberries, plums, apricots, quinces and many traditional apple varieties. Single variety apple juices; cider; and apple sauces, jams, puddings and pies made from Estate apples are also available. It also has a coffee shop and sells a wide variety of locally grown vegetables; homemade cakes, flans, pies and bread; dairy products, English and much, much more.

Blackmoor Farm Shop can also be found between September and April - during the top fruit season - at Winchester, Alton and Petersfield farmers markets.

The estate runs farm tours and educational visits; blossom tours in the spring and fruit tree pruning courses in the winter.

Henrieta says

It was here that I first tried a Pitmaston Pine Apple, with its tiny golden bell-shaped fruit with its pineapple aroma and a Court Perdu Plat, thought to be one of the oldest apples in cultivation with its curious flattened shape and a sweet luscious flavour. Look out for them.
