Coghlans Cookery School was established in 2001 as an antidote to the declining standards of cooking in both schools and the home. Aimed exclusively at private tuition for the domestic cook with a mission to help to build peoples' confidence in their own ability, the school has trebled in size in its first few years, now being housed in brand new 20,000 square foot, purpose-built, air-conditioned premises between Sheffield and Chesterfield. Courses have been expanded to include teenage and pre-university courses, as well as now offering team building classes from 8 to 30 cooks.
 
Courses vary between half and single day specialities, such as dinner party cookery, best of British, Healthy eating, barbecue and al fresco cooking,  Family cookery or Chocolate making, to advanced courses such as a 2 day dessert workshop, advanced chocolate making or detailed courses taking in Thai or Southern Italian dishes or Provincial French Cookery. The ever popular 8 week modular general cookery diploma continues to be Coghlans most popular course running for 40 weeks of each year. We also offer Christmas Cookery days, for both savoury and sweet courses.
 
At Coghlans the aim is to promote locally and traditionally produced foods from sustainable sources, and our team of chef trainers try to instill these principles into every student who attends the school.
 
The school is sponsored by Rangemaster and Le Creuset, with Rangemaster's latest ovens adorning  the pristine kitchens, whilst Le Creuset cookware is in abundance on each stove station. Professional knives are provided for each cook along with aprons and a health and safety briefing before work begins.
