Forman & Field, the mail order and catalogue arm of H Forman & Sons, have recently moved premises. Their new centre in East London also houses Forman’s brand new kilns and there are promises of a visitor centre, restaurant and deli in 2008. Who knows, this may prove more of a visitor attraction than the nearby Olympic stadium?
For the time being, stick to online or their comprehensive catalogue. Not only can you order their own-smoked salmon and other fish, but also Welsh beef from the Vale of Clwyd, Denhay air-dried ham, just about every kind of pig product you might think of, free-range chickens, geese and ducks, Kelly Bronze turkeys. And that’s not even mentioning their delicatessen section where you’ll find cutting pies, sausages, soups, even pickled quails’ eggs, a huge range of British cheeses such as Colston Bassett Stilton, Kirkham’s Lancashire, Tunworth and Wigmore as well as an impressive patisserie and dessert range.
This is a well thought out catalogue, impeccably sourced with mostly FoodLovers Approved producers (there is some history here as it incorporates a catalogue that Henrietta put together sometime ago). It’s also a catalogue worth keeping for instructions on carve smoked salmon – and they should know.
