Debate rages amongst locals whether the revamp of Geales is a good or bad thing.
The pros admire the smart new look, the chairs and tables tumbling out onto the pavement for outdoors eating and the admirable sourcing policy with fish arriving from Cornwall on a daily basis. There’s an updated, far trendier menu – think Helford Bay oysters, roast lobster, dressed crab as well as “proper” fish ‘n chips and mushy peas.
The antis moan about the price hike but then revamping doesn’t come cheap. With chef Gary Hollihead behind the venture, it appears to be set fair.
