Cookery Course | Wine Tasting Course

La Cucina Caldesi, the only Italian cookery school in central London, offers an exciting range of Italian-themed food and wine courses for all levels of cooking competence, as well as children’s activities and tailor-made classes for corporate and private events. Most of the courses are run in La Cucina Caldesi’s comfortable studio kitchen in London, some take place at “Caldesi in Campagna”, our restaurant in Bray, Berkshire.

The aim of all classes at La Cucina Caldesi is to teach people how to cook by passing on the expert knowledge of our tutors, thus giving people life-skills that they can take away and benefit from forever.

“The best way to really learn is to be involved in the cooking – says Katie Caldesi - our courses are very hands-on, offering plenty of opportunity to taste and try dishes whilst they are being prepared”.

Our teachers:
We have a variety of teachers running our courses giving you the chance to get the best from their area of expertise.
Giancarlo and Katie host classes alongside influential and passionate chefs including Jane Acton-Bond, Ghalid Assyb, Richard Bertinet, Gennaro Contaldo, Gino D’Acampo, Ursula Ferrigno, Sophie Grigson, Valentina Harris, Thane Prince, Franco Taruschio and along with our popular residents chefs Stefano Borella and Carolina Català Fortuny.

Our current cookery course schedule can be seen on our website page; it is our aim to add new courses on a quarterly basis, some of them change according to the season, e.g. Summer or festive courses, others are available all year round such as our fresh pasta making courses or “Sunday Market kitchen” where our chef and the students visit Marylebone Farmers Market to explore and purchase produce to create a wonderful lunch back at the school

Tailor made courses:
La Cucina Caldesi provides an authentic Italian cooking and eating experience in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere.
We offer a wide range of courses both for private and corporate entertaining, including “hands on” cookery events, chefs demonstrations, also wine tasting or even hands on cocktail lessons (in partnership with the Mandeville Hotel). We are happy to design events according to your special requirements.

Cooking together is a wonderful way to spend a refreshing and motivational “team building” day out from the office as well as celebrating birthdays or other special occasions.

Groups from 8 to 24 people can be accommodated at a time to suit your convenience, daytime and evening, Monday to Sunday. For more details please click here

Private Dining – Chef’s table at La Cucina Caldesi:

We can arrange an exclusive private dining experience at La Cucina Caldesi where you and your guests can lunch or dine by candle light in our beautiful kitchen, listen to music and eat mouth-watering Italian dishes that have been specially prepared for you. Take part if you wish or simply ask questions and pick up tips while your dedicated chef cooks your personally chosen menu.

La Cucina Caldesi offers childrens cookery classes:

Having 2 children herself Katie Caldesi has found that children love to experiment and that cooking is a wonderful way to express their creativity as well as have lots of fun!  Katie Caldesi is a strong advocate of healthy food for children.  Involving children in the kitchen is a great way to get them interested in good, healthy food early on in their lives and may encourage them to make more informed choices.  All our children's courses have been designed with this in mind.

La Cucina runs monthly Saturday cookery classes:
“The Italian Mama’s Cookery Club”, taught by Viviana Romanori, 10.30am – 12.30pm, aimed at 6 – 12 years olds. Our true Italian Mama, Viviana, has lots of experience in cooking with children and loves to teach them how to make fresh pasta from scratch, sauces and other delicious Italian classic dishes.  Viviana ensures every menu uses seasonal and fresh ingredients.  Together the class will prepare a sizzling, seasonal 3-course meal with plenty of opportunity for tasting, as well as taking dishes home.
Whilst Ursula Ferrigno’s, “Ursula’s Italian Pasta Family Lunch”, is becoming a regular Sunday slot; aimed at parents and their children cooking together, creating fresh family food with minimal fuss, and maximum fun.
The class meets at La Cucina Caldesi before heading off to our local ‘Marylebone
Farmer’s Market’, where together you will explore the different stalls, meet suppliers and sample titbits of what they have to offer.  Upon returning to our school laden with fresh produce, together you will create a wonderful array of seasonal Italian pasta dishes, vegetable salads and of course one of Ursula’s fabulous desserts.  Everyone sits down to enjoy what they have made as an informal family lunch in Ursula’s company.
