Ouse Valley Foods was formed during May 2004. Following a highly successful season producing fresh hollandaise sauce it became apparent that there was a growing interest and demand for foods that ‘accessorise’.
The introduction of other fresh sauces together with a range of conserves and chutneys coincided with perfecting a method of making crystal clear jellies, the ingredients magically suspended within their bright coloured set. They remain the centrepiece of Ouse Valley Foods.
Of paramount importance is the hand prepared aspect of our products. As far as possible, we use a variety of locally grown as well as foraged produce. Only small batches are made at any one time. We use a minimum of 50% fruit or vegetables and our own unique blends of herbs and spices in all of our recipes.
Our range has a seasonal feel to it and stock varies according to availability. We use no artificial additives. There may be slight changes in colour between batches due to the fruit and vegetables’ natural colouring.
A choice of highly individual cakes is also extremely popular. The recipes are developed
by us and often include intriguing mixtures, textures and flavours - reflecting a further use of fresh fruit and vegetables.
As ‘Ouse Valley Foods’ grows, our commitment to carefully made and wholly unique produce remains the same.
We are pleased to have been voted "Local Producer of the Year 2008/09" at the annual County Town Dinner organised by Lewes Round Table.

National Chutney Awards 2009
Ouse Valley Foods has done it again! This time it is three of the Chutney range that have attracted more accolades and prizes. The National Chutney Challenge was run by the Mid Wales Food and Land Trust and they awarded a total of five prizes to "manufacturers", of which Ouse Valley Foods won three of them.
The Children's Choice winner was our fabulous Greenhouse Chutney stuffed with tomatoes and a subtle balance of chillis and red peppers.
The Hot category went to the Aubergine Pickle which is both hot and full of aubergines - so that makes sense.
Finally the Picnic Pickle was chosen as the Mixed Vegetable winner and was described as being "well balanced flavour and aroma with well cooked vegetables".
Ouse Valley Foods are very proud to be associated with this competition and delighted to have won so many of the categories available.
