Cookery Course
Cornwall is renowned for its seafood and with Padstow no exception, Rick Stein’s Seafood School is well-placed for the best of the local catch.
With a stunning view over the harbour and estuary, the school itself is airy, light and well set out. The concept is that the morning’s hands-on preparations revolve around lunch, which you eat at the table overlooking the harbour, while the afternoon is spent with a glass of wine, watching a demonstration and chatting to the chef. It makes for a relaxed, enjoyable and informative day.
The courses come in 1-, 2-, 4- and 6-day packages. You might cover seafood cookery from France, Italy, Thailand, Southern India and Spain, or specialise in Shellfish or cook from recipes from one of Rick’s books.
The Original Fish & Shellfish course is apparently still the most popular and has now been expanded to cover 2-, 4- and 6-days. Here you will be taught not only every technique and preparation of fish and shellfish you might ever need to know, but also it includes an afternoon learning about pastry, an afternoon in the Seafood Restaurant kitchen and a demonstration on classic French fish dishes.
