An enthusiasm for food and drink inspired Nik and Traci Tinney to open Saffron in Quay Street, Truro in January 1999. Since then, their wide choice of menus and informal welcoming atmosphere has made Saffron a popular venue for locals and visitors to Truro. A truly Cornish restaurant offering exciting menus that follow the seasons and are genuinely created using local seasonal ingredients from small farms and local producers many from the Truro area.

Through May you can enjoy the annual celebration of Cornish Asparagus, a dedicated menu of dishes featuring simply grilled or steamed, soups, salads and much more. Try their recipe for Asparagus wrapped in Coppa with Tuscan Bread Salad.
During the Summer months locally grown soft fruits and seafood caught off the Cornish coast are highlights of the menu.  From late Summer you can expect stone and tree fruits, leading on to Autumnal game dishes and squashes.

The commitment to sourcing as many ingredients as possible ingredients from Truro and the surrounding area has uncovered such exciting things as Tregothnan Estate Teas, Cornish Sea Salt, Kea Plums (taking their name from the village near Truro where they grow. Their season is very short - approximately two weeks at the end of August early September), soft drinks, beers and sparkling wine.

Menus are updated regularly on the website and there you will also find more about seasonal ingredients and local suppliers.

Children are most welcome until 7pm and can choose from the Young Diners Menu which contains a range of fish, meat and vegetarian dishes uses the same local ingredients as all other menus.

They are open for Christmas Eve brunch, including their famous Ten Deadly Sins Cornish platter - a heart-stopping combination including Hogs pudding, locally-made sausages, bacon, tomatoes, black pudding - the works and a great way to gear yourself up for the Christmas feasting ahead.
