Robert Wilson of Scotherbs is now the largest supplier of fresh herbs in Scotland and he grows a huge variety. As well as herbs, he also grows salad leaves and edible flowers for mixing into salads or using as decoration and garnishes. He lists such culinary herbs as bronze fennel, sweet cicely, mint of every description and nasturtiums, marigolds, heartease and borage to brighten any salad, summer or winter.
He runs a Herbs Direct mail order service - a 50g tray is £1.60 inclusive of p&p, so there can be no excuse for those out-of-date packs languishing in the back of the fridge. As no salad is complete without a dressing Robert now also makes a range as well as various herb mustards, should you want to make your own.
Scotherbs was a finalist in the BBC Radio 4 Food and Farming Awards 2007.
