Tamarisk Farm on the coast of West Dorset was one of the earliest members of the Soil Association - since 1960. The farm is also in Countryside Stewardship, so it provides a haven for wildlife as well as preserving the landscape. Of particular note and Fine Farm Produce Award winning products are the rye flour and organic beef. The rye is grown as part of their arable rotation which includes two years of fertility-building red clover - and then milled on-farm for a particularly distinct and intense flavour.
Beef is from Ruby Red North Devon cattle that graze over a varied pasture and, after slaughter, is hung for three to four weeks to maximise flavour and texture.
