Fresh Local Honey? Look no further. The Hive Honey Shop is the UK's only shop devoted entirely to bees & honey. Granted an award by the Queen Mother and frequented by A-list celebrities, this honey haven is well worth a visit.

The owner James Hamill comes from three generations of beekeepers. As well as running the shop and the mail order business, which sells all things to do with bees and honey, he is also a professional beekeeper with beehives throughout the south west, producing a vast array of single floral honeys, such as apple blossom, lime blossom and starflower honey. And don't forget local honey is an actual hayfever remedy, so if you suffer, take a spoonful a day to build up your immunity.

'The flavour of honeys from different flowers are surprisingly varied and they are virtually impossible to mass produce,' says James. 'In the shop, we offer tasting samples of all our different honeys so customers can experience the subtle to dramatic differences for themselves.

No heat is involved in the extraction so the subtle oils are retained and it is these that give the honey its true flavour and health properties.

As well as his own honey, the shop has an enormous range of exclusive international honeys carefully chosen by James from among his worldwide network of beekeeping friends. James travelled to Tuscany to work with a beekeeping husband and wife team there before allowing their honey to sold at the shop. A range of honey cosmetic lotions and potions are made following tried and tested formulas that have been handed down through James's beekeeping family.

Beeswax, Royal Jelly and Propolis are harvested and used within his extensive fancy food range and health range. He has an apple orchard in Surrey, Bee Heaven Farm, that houses over 200 rare old English apple trees, 76 different varieties making this the fifth largest fruit gene bank in the country and of great national importance. The apples are nurtured, picked, pressed and bottled into apple juice there on the farm. Each bottle of my juice contains over 50 different apple varieties, making this a first! It contains no added water or sugars, just the juice of the apples. In addition to this his bees pollinate the trees and give him back a creamy flavoursome apple honey to boot!
