Foraging Course

Have you ever been out for a country walk and been left curious, but absolutely helpless not knowing what around you is safe to eat and what might poison you at first bite? Well, fear not as the Wild Food School aims to give you an insight into all the free wild produce growing right outside your door. They are based in Lostwithiel in Cornwall, so not only is the landscape rather stunning, but they are within easy reach of such varied terrains as the River Fowey, the moorlands of Bodmin and other pastures, wetlands even country lanes - all of which produce a diverse range of wild plants.

They offer half-, 1- and 2-day courses, for all levels of expertise and interest, in identifying, picking and then preparing and cooking all manner of edibles. Naturally all the food is seasonal, but each course can be tailored to suit your interest, whether it be just a curiosity in how to recognise greens on a walk in the country right through to survival skills, should you find yourself stuck out in the wilds. Courses continue right through the year even, surprisingly, in winter although they do state that this course is for the hardier, more adventurous and dedicated forager.
