Cidery | Farm Shop

The Sheppy family has been farming and cider-making in the West Country for over 200 years, and still does both to this day.

Currently run by David Sheppy and his wife, the family moved to their present location at Three Bridges Farm in 1916.  Old orchards already existed which have been built up and extended over four generations to the present day, with 55 acres of traditional cider apples currently making the business almost completely self-sufficient.

Farm gate sales started from the mid 1960s to passers by on the A38 (the only road from Yorkshire to Cornwall – it had to be good!).  The farm still has its own shop, rural life museum and tea rooms, but since then the business has widened its market, while maintaining its reputation for the finest quality traditional products; with ciders available through supermarkets and quality independent stores nationally.  Here are some of them:

Dabinett (medium) 500ml 7.2% ABV.  Widely available now in supermarkets and independent outlets.  The most popular of our four single varieties.  Available Waitrose and Sainsbury (nationally), ASDA, Tesco, and Booth’s (regionally).

Kingston Black (dry) 500ml 7.2% ABV.   Available regionally in Sainsbury (from September 2008), also Budgens and Booth’s.

Oak Matured Vintage (medium) 500ml 7.4% ABV.  Available in Sainsbury from September 2008.

Goldfinch (sparkling dry) Tesco Drinks Award winner in 2007 (cider category) 500ml 5.5% ABV.  Available in Tesco stores.

Oakwood Special (medium-dry) and Oakwood Supreme (medium-sweet) 500ml 6% ABV available nationally in Morrisons stores.

Farmers Harvest (NFU Centenary celebration Red Tractor cider) 500 ml 6.0% ABV available from selected Tesco stores.
